Fanfold.

Read, don't scroll.

Unfold a story. Fanfold turns your news sources into magazines with a last page. Sit down, unfold your phone and read an article to the end, long enough to understand it, not just to have seen the headline. For everyone who's done swiping and wants to know things again.

No ads, no algorithm, no tracking, no account.

Unfold. Sit down. Understand.

01

Unfold

Opening it is like opening a newspaper: your phone becomes a double page, and the pages turn like paper.

02

Sit down

A magazine has an end: a last page, no endless feed, no push notifications. You can be done.

03

Understand

Long reads in a calm typeface, offline on the train, read aloud if you like. Only the sources you chose, no algorithm.

How it reads.

Every source, its own magazine

Your RSS and Atom feeds hang on the wall as little magazines, with a masthead, an issue number and the lead story as a pasted-in print.

Read like paper

A double page when unfolded, a single page on any other phone. A calm serif, drop caps, chapters and photo plates.

The newsstand

59 hand-picked sources in eight sections. One tap and it hangs on your wall.

Just type the website

A site name or any article link is enough, Fanfold finds the feeds. Or share a link from your browser straight to Fanfold.

Print it your way

Photos in riso halftone or in full colour, the lead photo on the cover, a misprint when turning pages.

Offline and read aloud

Issues stay on your device, so you keep reading without signal. Your phone can read an article to you, on device.

How it works

Three steps to your first magazine.

  1. 01

    Get it on Google Play

Search for “Fanfold” on Google Play. Pay once, no subscription, not now and not later. Runs on Android 13+, made for foldables, at home on any phone.

  2. 02

    Get magazines

“+ Mag” on the wall opens the newsstand: tap a source, type a website or share a link from your browser to Fanfold.

  3. 03

    Unfold and read

Tap a magazine, unfold, turn the pages. Folded, the cover screen shows your magazine's cover.

With Bionic OS · optional

With a Bionic OS account you sync feeds, read state and bookmarks, get full text for feeds that only send teasers, short summaries via Friday, and your Morning Briefing and TrendRadar topics as their own magazines. Without an account, Fanfold works fully on its own.

Fanfold Free · thank you

Three magazines, free.

A thank-you to everyone who helped along the way: Fanfold Free is the full app with room for 3 magazines on the wall. No ads, no account, no time limit. If you want more magazines, the full version is on Google Play.

  1. Download the APK on your Android phone (Android 13 or newer).
  2. Open it and allow your browser to install apps when Android asks.
  3. Fanfold Free sits next to the Play version, they don't get in each other's way.

The APK doesn't update itself. When a new version is here, Fanfold Free shows a note.
