Some markets are only just emerging — and that is exactly where we want to be early. Display smart glasses (the Meta Ray-Ban Display first and foremost) open up a new category: software that no longer lives on a screen, but in your field of view.
Why now
Anyone who has read our articles on “thinking in markets” knows the logic: the biggest opportunity lies in the new market, not the crowded old one. Smart glasses are exactly such a market. We are among the first in Switzerland to actively develop for this platform — securing ourselves an early position in the process.
The display itself is already technically fascinating: a waveguide that steers light waves directly into the eye. An elegant solution — and an entirely new design foundation for software.
What we test at the Bionic OS Lab
At the Bionic OS Lab a whole series of experiments and prototypes for the field of view is underway — hands-free, context-aware, right in your line of sight:
- Surfskate Coach — rhythm and slalom coaching in your field of view: BPM, pumping line and live feedback via the glasses’ IMU.
- News Reader — curated news briefings on the display, the essentials first, browse through hands-free.
- Brudi Chat — AI assistant for your field of view: ask hands-free, answer right in your line of sight.
- Presenter — slides and speaker notes in your field of view, hands free.
- Cinema — synchronised watch party and media controls for the glasses.
On top of that comes a confidential prototype we are not revealing anything about yet.
